Relationship with God

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty

Abiding Under the Shadow of the Almighty

Abiding, what does that truly mean?

What does that look like?

As we look in Psalm 91:1 we see the word abide, dwell, remain, to stay permanently and endure these are a few words I found in the Hebrew concordance. When we look deeper in Psalm, we see the word Under, that word really spoke to me. Let’s look at what under entails to us. It means below, beneath, and also, I pictured the word hidden. He hides and protects us from the enemy. The thing to remember here is we have to learn to abide (remain, dwell, to stay permanently, endure) in Him. I think also, we need to have our posture bowing low, humbling before our Almighty God knowing He will protect us when the fiery darts come at us.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall Abide Under the Shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

You might ask where is that hiding place?

Where can we be hidden and protected?

It’s in the secret place, it’s in His presence, taking time to meet with Him in the garden daily consistently staying close right by His side and Under the protection of His Wings.

Where is your secret place with the Lord? He is waiting for you and me to Come and dwell with Him and abide.

Always Abiding

Why do we go through seasons of not feeling His presence and then at other times you can feel him wooing you to enter into His presence? You so feel His goodness, love, gentle nudge to come closer, to abide with Him.

Is it me, that stops His presence?

His Word says He never leaves us nor forsakes us… So, it must be me that hides or walks away from His goodness and His presence. Do I take God for granted and only come to him on my terms?

I surely do not have all the answers, but I am learning a few things that are giving me some understanding.

We should always be abiding and dwelling with Him daily (consistently) not just at times when we feel like it. It needs to become a lifestyle, like food we eat, our sustenance, and our daily bread to meet with Him in the secret place. Listen to His heartbeat and just spend time in His presence and in His Word.

Pouring Our Love On Him…

Pour My Love On You

Stop Striving

How do I abide in Christ? What a question. An abiding relationship with Christ is the common longing of every noble heart.

Friendship With God Comes Not from Striving After Faith but from Resting in the Faithful One.

I keep hearing to stop striving. I am still trying to walk in this daily in my own relationship. God keeps showing me, it is not about a driven force mentality but a discipline and focus mindset and understanding. I heard from a preacher I really admire, Bill Johnson, he put it like this being driven makes you feel like you have a monkey on your back. Don’t allow yourself to be driven with the need to achieve to feel good about one-self and focus on self. There’s a twisted view of the way we serve the Lord. Sometimes as a believer we have this need to accomplish stuff. It’s a counterfeit biblical vision that drives us instead of being directed by a vision God has directed in our lives. We burnout in ministries because we have more going out than coming in.

His Word spoke to me in Psalm 139

You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book. Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in your every thought! O God, your desires toward me are more than the grains of sand on every shore! When I awake each morning, you’re still with me. God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me through and through; find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares. See if there is any path of pain I’m walking on, and lead me back to your glorious, everlasting way— the path that brings me back to you. Psalm 139 :16-18 23-24 TPT

Stop Hiding

So, I am realizing shame, guilt, pain, iniquities, and everything I try to hide keeps me from walking in the true freedom and identity God has for me, I am hiding, and I need to stop hiding my deepest hurts, and pain and deal with it all and allow Holy Spirit to heal me completely so I can come boldly to His throne and in His presence. God has washed away our sins and guilt and shame. There is nothing that can separate me from Gods love. One day I’m going to understand this deeper and walk in the fullness of this understanding.

It is not God hiding from me, but I am hiding from Him and all His goodness because I allow shame to be my mindset instead of realizing it’s not about anything I do or have done or will do that separates me from Jesus Christ loving me. God is showing me I have had bondage in my life, of fear of not being good enough Always striving for God to love me more or to make Him happy. That is so not walking in freedom, if it hits home to you as well, there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus he just loves us and teaches us how to truly understand His unconditional love. We are always learning and growing to walk in righteousness and fruits of Holy Spirit.

He just wants us to come to Him openly and honestly and He nudges us and says let’s work on this area and let me show you what my Word says and allow me to teach you all about my Goodness and how much I truly love You.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35, 38-39

Precious friend of mine wrote this song called Abide hope it ministers to you as it did for me.
