How do we continually walk in Peace?
What a loaded question, with all that’s going on in the world right now we need the Peace of God in our lives daily.
I’m not saying there is a method or steps, but I do have a few suggestions to think about. So, let’s go inside the scriptures and see what God has to say about it.
Let’s look at Phil. 4:6-7, this is a scripture we all know pretty well,
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer & supplication, with Thanksgiving, let your request be made known to God and the Peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7
So, we see several ideas in this passage —
- Stop being anxious {choice} It is a choice we have to make.
- In everything by prayer and supplication
- With Thanksgiving
- Let your request be made known to God!
The word Supplication is deesis {deh-ay-sis} in the Greek to need, want, a seeking, asking, entreaty to God, prayer and request. There should be a continual communication with God and us. We need to always be seeking and asking Holy Spirit to teach us Gods truth. I just learned this word Contending, declare, maintain, advance, affirm, are a few synonyms. I challenge you to search out this word contend it is all through the Bible.
More Understanding of Peace
Let’s discover more understanding of Peace we are looking at the gospel of John 16:33
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have Peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer I have overcome the world. John 16:33
I have never seen this before but it’s saying you may have Peace. I love when we read these scriptures over and over but then God shows you something new. Look at the word may.
What does that mean?
We make that choice; we can choose Peace or not. If we go back to Phil 4:8 it tells us
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy— meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of Peace will be with you. Phil 4:8-9
What do you think that is telling us?
Again, it is dealing with our thoughts, mind, will, and emotions. Which refers to our soul, it seems there is always a struggle with our soul. We are always trying to conquer our thoughts.
What are we thinking about in our lives daily?
We look in Is 26:: 2-3
Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter, the one that remains faithful and trustworthy. You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast Because he trusts and takes refuge in You. Isaiah 26:2-3
It said the one that remains faithful and trustworthy You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [ that is committed and focused on You—- in both inclination and character] Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]. Amp.
So, the words that stood out to me was faithful and trustworthy whose mind is steadfast. Our minds need to constantly be committed and focused on God and His Word.
Are our minds truly steadfast?
Do we truly trust God?
Do we take refuge in Him with hope and confident expectation?
What Influences are we Allowing into our lives and our homes?
Are they thoughts of Gods words and promises, what are we allowing on our TVs today? God is really dealing with my husband and I in our home what are we allowing to creep in without even realizing we are doing it. cussing on television and homosexuality and nudity shows, music we are letting in that is just worldly songs, shows that show witchcraft, sorcery, magic God is saying this is not pleasing to Him. If we are truly the children of God and joint heirs of Jesus, we would separate ourselves from the things of the world. He wants us to come up higher and live in Holiness and Purity. Are we letting social media, other opinions, fleshly desires, idleness, negative thoughts, etc….. We can keep listing all sorts of things we are putting before God and allowing ourselves to come in agreement with the world’s way of thinking. Are we so wrapped up in the things of this earth we are not spiritually minded. We so need His Word and Prayer life and Sitting at His feet to truly hear His voice and be in His presence and share in HIs Holness enveloping us on a continual basis.
Heart Posture
Another way to continue walking in Peace, is worshipping God rather listening, watching, or playing songs that are uplifting and praising the name of Jesus. Having a heart posture toward discovering His Sovereignty, Goodness, Deity, Majesty, Supremacy, and declaring through songs and instrumentally allowing sounds of Gods praise to be continually in our mouth. When we put our gaze on Jesus and understand who He is everything just fades away. True Peace and Rest comes as we Abide in Him and His Word.. His presence creates in us a quiet confidence, regardless of circumstances, people, or things. We receive Peace from God as a virtue of holy living and a protection from evil forces. Where the Peace of God is present there is no room for worry. Spiritual Peace describes a sense of well-being and fulfillment that comes from God and is dependent on His presence alone.
The true Peace of God protects the hearts and minds of believers from worry, fear, and anxiety… We have to come out of agreement with the enemy, which means our negative thoughts, and words we speak, rather it is dealing with our bodies, minds, emotions. We only want to come in agreement and align ourselves to Gods Word and Truth.
Sharing In His Holiness
How do we live a life of Holiness?
We have to separate ourselves from the things of this world. I can’t stress this enough, God is so dealing with me about this how He wants us to walk in His Holiness, I heard these words from Holy Spirit.
We have got to put on a garment of Praise for the spirit of heaviness, Dress yourself in My Armour, Walk in My Truth, My Word, My Goodness, and blood bought stain of Jesus Christ shedding his blood for the remission of sins. The light of the world for all mankind Crucified, Resurrected, and Alive today. Seated at the right hand of the Father in all of HIs Glory and Splendor interceding on our behalf Ruling and Reining for all eternity. We get to share in His magnificent Honor as we yield our bodies as a living sacrifice day today. Dying daily to self-preservation, selfish motives, idolatry, in the sense of having any gods before me, hypocrisy, lewdness, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, and debauchery.
We should put on the fruit of the Spirit Peace, Joy, Faithfulness, love, longsuffering, goodness, meekness, self-control and kindness—- {We have lost the true Fear of the Lord} I’m talking about Reverence, Honor, and Respect of our MASTER AND SAVIOR!!!
