Surrendering our all to God, what does that look like?
When we think of surrendering it is putting our total Trust in Him. No more striving or worrying about the situation just complete surrender. To surrender, a believer completely gives up his own will and subjects his thoughts, ideas, and deeds to the will and teachings to God. Letting go of our plans and letting God have His way in every aspect of our lives.
The Cambridge English dictionary describes it as ” To stop trying to prevent or control a situation. It even goes so far as to say “To accept defeat” {cringe}
To me, surrendering to God means to stop fighting my own agenda, and relinquish my control of the situation. Sometimes that does mean accepting defeat. To spiritually surrender my all means, is to let go of control and Trust God. Galatians 2::20
I have been crucified with Christ {that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion}; It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by Faith {by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting}: In the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me. Gal 2:20 AMP
Let Go Let God
How do we surrender to God and Let Go?
What areas are there that you need to let go?
Let’s name a few we all deal with in our lives control, worry, and fear.
The first key to Surrendering is LET GO LET GOD!!!
Surrendering control is never easy. it means we have taken our hands off of the controls to impact the situation any further. It’s scary, It’s hard!!! But sometimes it is necessary.
We may be trying all the wrong ways to help, and instead, things just get worse. We can give it to God. He is all-knowing, and His ways are above our ways.
Worry is a lack of Trust, Ouch.
When we remind ourselves of some scriptures we haven’t read in a while, let us not only read them, but apply them to our lives once again:
Letting Go and Letting God is a daily, moment by moment choice. Like every discipline in life, we must learn to surrender and give it to God. The enemy seeks every new day to cloud our minds with worries, doubts, and fears,
The devil wants there to be no room left for God in our lives. To let go and let God becomes a lifestyle of daily giving it all to Him.
Whenever the ugly hairs of negative thoughts seek to invade our space, we must cut them and give them to God immediately.
God’s mercies are new every morning, so what happened yesterday, last year, or a decade ago is completely gone. Carrying the past around will only take up space for God’s goodness, grace, and favor. Renewing our minds in Christ means letting go of all the burdens He died to take from us.

Stop Striving and Start Abiding
The Second key to Surrendering is STOP STRIVING START ABIDING!!!
We don’t have to strive to make our life turn out a certain way we just have to abide in Him.
How do I learn to abide? This word keeps coming up in my daily walk with the Lord. Abide, literally means to stay or remain. To abide in the Lord means that we are continually receiving, believing and trusting Jesus in everything we need. When we abide in Jesus, we remain steadfast as we walk in Him, depend on Him, and are intentional with acts of Faith. To abide we need to have the desire of a relationship with Him. Our connection with Jesus is what brings us life. True communication daily entering in His scriptures, the Living Word of God., we strengthen our relationship with Him and better our walk with Him through the gospel.
Just as a branch is dependent on the vine, we are dependent on Jesus to sustain us and give us life. His word is living and active. Without it, we are like the lifeless branch that is thrown away. In John 15, Jesus is specific about sustaining us through the flow between the vine and branch. John 15:7, 9-10
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you… As the Father has loved me, so Have I loved you. Abide in my love, if you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in His Love. John 15:7, 9-10
Prayer is another way for learning to abide in Him. Communicating with God daily. Having an attitude of Thanksgiving and gratitude, daily in your prayer life is essential in our walk with the Lord. Learning to have a heart of Thanksgiving and Praise is so important to live a joyful life in Christ. Rejoice always pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Which brings us to how important Praise and Worship is. It’s vital for abiding with God. To abide we need to come into His presence with singing, Enter His courts with Praise. Psalm 100:4
“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with Praise: Be Thankful unto Him and bless His Name. Psalm 100:4
We need to enter His presence, abide in His presence, worshipping Him in spirit and truth. We need to learn to abide in His presence, to touch the hem of His garment and sit as His feet Worshipping Him and surrendering our all. We need to know His goodness is all around us. When we see the beauty of nature, such as, birds flying and singing their individual songs, as we hear a waterfall cascading with exuberance as it lands on the rocks beneath. The sound of nature is all around us, every day we take this for granted. God’s presence and goodness is everywhere if we would just stop for a moment to see and hear His wonderful creation. How much more that He loves you and me providing all our needs.
We need to ask the question How can I abide in the Lord today? Lord teach us to abide in your love and your goodness. So, we can remember to see you wherever we go.
Learning To Trust God
Our third key I want to talk about LEARNING TO TRUST GOD!!!
What does it mean to trust God?
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight. Proverbs 3:5
How do we trust God?
Trust according to google is firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
I think we need a more biblical definition of understanding trust, The words translated trust in the Bible literally means a bold, confident, sure security or action based on that security. Learning to trust God is a very intentional process. It takes commitment to build a trusting relationship with a person, and it’s the same with God. We wouldn’t blindly trust someone we don’t know, so making efforts to know God better is the first step.
We see in Hebrews 11 you’ll find more of what the Bible says about trusting God. You’ll find stories about Abel, Enoch, Noah, and Abraham just to name a few. We look at Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrew 11:6
So, we know that Faith is the beginning of trusting God completely. The more we put our faith in Him, the more our trust grows. It grows because we see Him working in our lives and those around us. He proves His love toward us and that is where we learn how to trust in God.
The main reason we should trust God is that He is worthy of our trust. Unlike men, He never lies and never fails to fulfill His promises. God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fullfil? Numbers 23:19
Unlike men, He has the power to bring to pass what He plans and purposes to do. Isaiah 14:24 tells us
The Lord Almighty has sworn, Surely as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand. Isaiah 14:24
If we endeavor to know God through His Word, we will see that He is worthy of our trust, and our trust in Him will grow daily. To know Him is to trust Him. The more we seek out His word the more we experience His grace, faithfulness, and goodness, the more we trust Him
The bottom line is KNOWING HIM IS TO TRUST HIM
We need to get to know God Personally
The Bible talks about how much God desires a close personal relationship with each of us. He’s not a distant God, trying to play hard to get in the clouds. He pursues us and loves us and wants an intimate encounter with us. God loves you and wants to spend time with you. The more time you spend with Him, the more you get to know Him. And the more you get to know Him, the easier it is to trust Him.
Trust isn’t a thought or feeling. It’s an act and practice that you walk out in your daily life. It’s a muscle that needs to be exercised. If you’ve never used this muscle, it’s going to be weak and wobbly at first. That’s okay! Over time, the more you exercise this muscle, the easier it will become.
So, take a deep breath and let your shoulders relax. Your Father knows your every need before you even have it. Learn to Surrender your all to Him!!!
